1. Introduction

Welcome to BeCute ("we," "us," or "our"). BeCute is operated by Oleksandr Padura, an individual based in Ukraine. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website at becute.app and our mobile application (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information You Provide

When you use the Service, you may provide us with:

  • Account information: email address, password, and display name when you create an account
  • Health and body data: weight, height, age, dietary preferences, allergies, nutrition goals, and similar information you choose to input
  • Meal and food logs: information about meals, food items, and dietary intake you record
  • Early access form: email address submitted through our early access sign-up form, sent together with the referral data described in section 2.2: the page you submitted from, the site that referred you, any campaign parameters that were in the address, and your Google Analytics client identifier when an analytics cookie exists in your browser
  • Communications: any information you provide when contacting us for support

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:

  • Analytics data: we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect usage data such as pages visited, time spent on pages, referral sources, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location. Whether that data may be tied to cookies depends on the consent state that applies to you, and section 4 sets out exactly what that state is before and after you answer our cookie banner.
  • Referral data: we keep in your browser (localStorage, keys bc_first_touch and bc_last_touch) the site that referred you and any utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content or utm_term parameters found in the address, so that we can tell which channel brought you here. This is written whatever your cookie answer is, it never leaves your browser on its own, and it reaches us only if you submit the early access form.
  • Cookie consent preference: we store your Accept or Decline answer in your browser (localStorage, key cookie_consent) so that it can be applied again on your next visit

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Create and manage your account
  • Generate personalized meal plans and nutrition suggestions based on the data you provide
  • Process your subscription and payments
  • Send you service-related communications
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service, under the consent state described in section 4
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support

4. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising Permissions

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4, measurement ID: G-RKC36C0C6H) to understand how visitors interact with our Service. The Google tag is requested on every page of becute.app, and what the tag is allowed to do is decided by Google Consent Mode v2. Before the tag loads, our code sets four permissions: analytics_storage, which covers measurement and analytics cookies, and three advertising permissions - ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization.

4.1 The default that applies before you answer the banner

Until you press a button on our cookie banner, the default depends on where you are:

  • European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. All four permissions default to denied, and the tag is told to wait up to 500 milliseconds for your answer before acting on them. This branch covers the 30 countries of the European Economic Area - Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden - and the United Kingdom.
  • The rest of the world. All four permissions, the analytics one and the three advertising ones, default to granted. Stated plainly: if you are outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom and you have not answered the banner, analytics is already running on your visit and the advertising permissions are already granted. We do not buy advertising and we do not build advertising audiences today, but our code does grant those permissions, so we write down what the code does rather than what we intend.

4.2 What the banner buttons change

Accept sets all four permissions to granted at once, without reloading the page. Decline sets all four to denied at once and in every country, including the rest of the world where the default was granted. Your answer is kept in your browser (localStorage, key cookie_consent) and is applied again on your next visit before the Google tag loads, so a declined browser stays declined.

A denied permission means Google may not read or write cookies for that purpose and may not use your data for advertising. The Google tag file itself is still requested by the page, and it may still send Google a cookieless signal that carries the denied state and no identifier of you.

4.3 Changing your answer

Use the "Cookies Settings" link in our footer: it clears the stored answer and brings the banner back. Clearing your browser's localStorage for our domain and refreshing the page does the same. You can also block the Google tag with your browser settings or an extension, and the Service will keep working.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your personal data is stored on our own servers. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: with Google (Google Analytics) for usage analysis, on the consent terms set out in section 4
  • Legal requirements: if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process
  • Safety: to protect the rights, safety, or property of BeCute, our users, or the public

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure: request deletion of your personal data
  • Restriction: request that we restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection: object to processing of your personal data
  • Withdraw consent: withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Early access email submissions are retained until the recipient unsubscribes or requests deletion.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to Ukraine and any other country where we operate.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
